Musical Theater Productions in Santa Fe, New Mexico

“Tri-M Productions … has revived musical theater as a regular feature in Santa Fe, with a rousing rendition of the classic, Oklahoma! performed just last month.”

Santa Fe New Mexican editorial, December 10, 2024

Up Next For Tri-M Productions:

Starring Rachelle Elbert as Cathy, and Seth Miller as Jamie.

Directed by Tim Jebsen

The Last Five Years is a musical written by Jason Robert Brown, with a cast of two. The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Jamie's story is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met) and Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage). The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect.

It premiered at Chicago's Northlight Theatre in 2001 and was then produced Off-Broadway in March 2002. Since then it has had numerous productions, both in the United States and internationally, and a Broadway production in 2025. A movie version appeared in 2014.

Dates will be March 12 – 22, 2026 at the New Mexico Actor’s Lab Theater. Tickets on sale now!

The understudies, Jensen Kloknicki (Jamie) and Rachel Biggs (Cathy), will do a full cover run the evening of Saturday March 14 at 7:00 pm. The understudy performance is a Pay-What-You-Will so you cannot buy tickets via the online portal. The only way to reserve a seat is by filling out the google form, linked below.‍ ‍
